Here’s a promising-sounding new book: 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe:

Many Christians, new and seasoned alike, tend to bank on promises that God never made, says one pastor.

So when God doesn’t come through on those “promises,” some are likely to become angry at God.

And “that to me as a pastor over all my years is always one of the saddest things,” says Larry Osborne, teaching pastor at North Coast Church in Vista, Calif.

Osborne, whose church draws over 7,000 people, is hoping to spare a lot of Jesus followers from that anger. He’s also hoping Christians will peruse Scripture more and align themselves with what God really says rather than the “word on the street.”

Wait, that doesn’t sound promising at all! Does he at least have a good list of ten?

  1. Living God’s way will bring good fortune
  2. Faith can fix anything
  3. Forgiving means forgetting
  4. A godly home guarantees godly kids
  5. God has a blueprint for my life
  6. Christians shouldn’t judge
  7. Everything happens for a reason
  8. Let your conscience be your guide
  9. A valley means a wrong turn
  10. Dead people go to a better place.

Well, a number of those are stupid things. But if I were making a list of “Ten Stupid Things Smart Christians Believe,” none of those would be on it. What’s that? You want to know what would be on it? Good question!

Ten Stupid Things Smart Christians Believe

  1. A mistranslated book written by cave people is a reliable guide to the modern world.
  2. There’s an invisible man in the sky who likes to watch you while you’re showering.
  3. Two thousand years ago, an alter ego of this invisible man knocked up a Jewess whose husband wasn’t satisfying her.
  4. The progeny of this drunken coupling was both god and the son of god.
  5. This son of god was killed (but not really, since he’s also god, and god can’t die) and then came back to life to seek revenge, just like J.D. Walker.
  6. His killing was a necessary sacrifice in order that we might be forgiven for the sins of Eve, the first woman in the world, who lived 6000 years ago in a magical garden, where a talking snake convinced her to eat a forbidden apple.
  7. To show our thanks for this sacrifice, we should put special crackers and wine in our mouths, where they will be magically transformed into his flesh and blood, which we should then swallow despite taboos regarding cannibalism.
  8. If you don’t believe all the preceding items, then after you die you will be plunged into a lake of fire and tortured for all eternity.
  9. If you do believe all the preceding items, then after you die you’ll get to go to heaven, which is a cloud in outer space connected to the earth with a dotted line bent into a heart-shape
  10. Thomas Kinkade is an awesome painter.

Which book would you rather read?

  1. Wondering why people are so argumentative says:

I just don’t understand why there has to be such an argument over it. There are people who prefer cats to dogs. Does that make them wrong and worthy of ridicule? No, so why does someone’s religious beliefs or lack thereof, mean that they are to be the subject of your rancor because your beliefs are different? It shouldn’t.

As for science, in case you haven’t noticed, it changes through the years too. Many years ago, “science” said that the earth was flat. The Bible said it was round, not flat as was stated earlier. Science also told us that the way to cure people of almost every ill that befell them was to “bleed” them with leeches. Science today says that in most cases, this would be detrimental rather than beneficial. So don’t tell me that science proves one way or the other that the Bible is true or false. It does neither. When we die, we will discover the truth for ourselves: either we will go to heaven or hell or we will cease to exist. The answer in the meantime………is whatever you believe is right for you and should not be subject to vitriol and vicious attack as some of the previous posters have stated. You have the right to believe whatever you please as do I. Neither of us should denigrate the other for that. It’s our right as human beings.

  2. ugh says:

“When we die, we will discover the truth for ourselves: either we will go to heaven or hell or we will cease to exist”

Yeah, because those are the only two belief structures. This is a prime example of why religionists get pigeon-holed into the “narrow minded” stereotype. The one point you fail to mention is that throughout these changes, they occur because science has the logistical sense to say it’s wrong based on new information and then looks for the correct answer. Religion holds no such view, at best you get what was held as truth being converted into metaphors in a feeble attempt to save face.

  3. j;lk says:

i just dont understand how christians believe all this stuff and dont believe in THE EASTER BUNNY….gosh i hate christians

  4. Blasphemy says:

Hm, from what ive seen in the world christians pretty much despise rational thought, logic, and scientific evidence. Most christians i know are hippocrits, ignorant, and very simple minded. Not saying the morals and teachings of religion arent great. But the institution and things they beleive are fucking retarded. But we only live once, or twice, or tenthousand times. No matter what as long as there happy and i dont have to deal with them being stupid. Fyi, my grammar and spelling is something to be abhored, i already know this, grammar nazis step back.

  5. asdasd says:

i worship kerry king from slayer

    south of heaven

  6. sup says:

I’m religious but I believe in gay rights, and evolution. I also believe no matter what religion or beliefs you have you will go to heaven if you are a good person at heart. I believe you can make a good few slip ups in life and God won’t give a shit. So where does that put me :/

  7. Aragorn says:

Incredible, it is the classic pot calling the kettle black. Blasphemy, perhaps before you call other people stupid, you should refine your spelling and grammar skills. It makes you look like a “hippocrite”.

This post has also highlighted plenty of common logical fallacies. I would have thought since atheists are supposedly more rational that they would be able to come up with something more sound than ad hominem rhetoric. Most of these arguments are nothing more than incoherent rambling. Just like the rabid fundementalist religious types, you are nothing more than the same thing wearing the title of “atheist”.

Science is a crutch to logic. Yes it has its uses, but when you get past the utility uses of it and start delving into philosophy, it falls apart miserably. What you have is little more than educated guessing being passed along as “science”. Science induced philosophy, at the end of the day, is still philosophy. Speculative ideas about perceived evidence isn’t proper evidence.

  8. mike D says:

So wait if I imagine a magical fairy kingdom with rainbows, when I die that’s were I’ll go? Jeez, humans are just smarter animals. If you believe that we were put here for more, than you are in denial. Also, it’s a common misconception that humans thought the world was flat.

  9. liam says:

Okay, let me clear some things up. I am a Christian and what you are posting is riddled with ignorance.

    1. History can prove that many of the books were written by kings, prophets, and educated nomads, not “cave people”. It isn’t strictly an instruction manual for everything, it’s basically a handbook for moral guidance and what we believe. Yes, many things in it are outdated and irrelevant in this age, but those are included for the history of the religion.
    2. We believe God is omniscient, not a creep.
    3. I’m assuming your referring to Mary and Joseph. We believe she was chosen because she was humble and of no great importance, giving Christ a humble entrance. Not because Joseph couldn’t hold up in bed. Hence, “virgin Mary.”
    4. We believe that Christ existed as a means of God getting in literal contact with the earth, and see the points below.
    5. & 6. One, he never “seeked revenge”. Two, we believe that his death was a sacrifice symbolizing God’s forgiveness for all of the sin that had existed from the beginning. This sacrifice was the sole reason for the creation of Christ.
    7. Again, communion is a symbol. While some actually believe that when you intake the bread and wine (or grape juice, in most cases), it becomes the body and blood of Christ, most (including me) do not believe this, but recognize it as a symbol.
    8. & 9. As outlined by the Bible, we believe that salvation is obtained solely through the genuine faith that Christ was God’s creation (son) and he sacrificed himself for our sake. Before anyone brings up the “what if Hitler had been a Christian” cliche, you have to ask, would a person who truly believes in this ever kill anyone?
    10. No one can deny he has great talent :P

Notice I’ve preceded everything with “we believe”. I’m not forcing Christianity onto any of you. That’s your own prerogative. I just wanted to clarify what most Christians believe and straighten out the misfacts Joel posted.

  10. David says:

    There are so many other things that could make the top 10 list…for example;

1- Jesus’ father gave birth to him as there is no “Mother” for the “son of God”.

2- Christians are homosexuals as their “Holy Trinity” comprises of 3 males, Father, Son, Holy Spirit (He).

    3. The Virgin Mary is the “Mother of God”, if that is the case then SHE must be God, otherwise the son of God comes thru a human, illogical and stupid.

    4. God’s image is male and female (only) Gen 1:27. Not male, female and child. Where is the female image in Christian beliefs? (It is non-existent.)

    5. If Christians follow the Jewish Bible why didn’t they believe that Jesus was God and the second person of a Trinity? They must’ve been more stupid than the Christians and missed something.

    6. Trinitarians deny everything written in the New Testament that says that Jesus is the “Son of God” and change the wording to Jesus, “GOD, the Son”. By definition a “SON” comes into existence THRU parents and has a beginning point…God doesn’t have a beginning point.

    7. Christians changed the NAME of God (ELOHIM) to a generic term “God”. Then they say “HIS” name is Yahweh YHWH (LORD- which is a title, not a name). Gen 1:1 ELOHIM created everything.

    8. What pronoun do you use for a single entity ELOHIM that consists of two genders (male AND female) Gen 1:27. He is incorrect and “she” is incorrect and you can’t use “they” either because “God” is ONE entity. Answer: we don’t have a pronoun sufficient for this type of entity, so why do Christians keep referring to God as “He”? YHWH is the male essence within ELOHIM and YHWH ELOHIM is definitely a “He”, but ELOHIM is the entire God and consists of male AND female.

9, By definition “Spirit of God” Genesis 1:2 is feminine but Greek scholars put Her as an “It” or “He” and deny Her position as the female “image” of God Gen 1:27.

    10. Christians will argue what “image” means because they don’t want any part of God to be female. Humans were created male and female in the image of God,,,,not God was created like our image; therefore since we know what male and female means we also know that God’s image is MALE and FEMALE. If you don’t know what a male or female is look inside your pants. By the way GOD (ELOHIM) said what “His” image is.

    11. Christians are totally stupid because they don’t even know what a “SON” is. Greek scholars deny words such as “firstborn” and “begotten” yet forget the outcome “son” is how Jesus claimed himself to be: Son of God; Son of Man; Son of Mary; Son od David; offspring of Abraham. They think by denying that Colossians 1:15 which states that Jesus is the FIRSTBORN of ALL creation they can believe that Jesus is not a procreated being. Col 3:9 and Rev 3:14 confirm that Jesus is a created being, thereby he cannot be God who procreated him. A son can never exist at the same time as the Father who begat him.

    12. Christians don’t know the Hebrew word ELOHIM consists of two parts ELOHI which means goddess and M which is the suffix (ending) that means male, plural. Even though this word would indicate a plural entity it is the NAME of the individual that has both male and female essences. That is why for all other references to other entitites Elohim is always a plural.

    13. Christians don’t know their God but claim that if you don’t believe in their God (Trinity) you won’t have salvation. In reality if you believe in their God (Trinity) you can’t have salvation because their God has a false god (Jesus) and is prohibited in the First Commandment. So, if you have one part of your God as a false god then the entire god they have is false. It is not like their Jesus who can be fully God and fully man. You can’t kill God and you can’t teach God but they do so with their Jesus/God…Comical isn’t it?

  11. Science says:

    Simply perform this Scientific experiment:

    1. Pray to Chuck Norris for an “x” length of time and determine the percentage of prayers answered/given

    2. Pray to the Christian god for an “x” length of time and determine the percentage of prayers answered/given.

Compare data with several people. I have done this and the percentages for both Chuck Norris and the Christian god (Jesus) near the same value.

Thus, the god hypothesis is either

    a) There are 2 gods of equal power, Jesus and Chuck Norris

    b) Chuck Norris and Jesus equally care about your problems

    c) Jesus is Chuck Norris and/or Chuck Norris is Jesus

    d) There is no god

  12. Magikarp says:

Saying science should be disregarded and put under the Bible doesn’t make any sense at all. Don’t you think religion is “just a bunch of educated guesses being passed around”? Your religion is sickening and your God is an arrogant, vindictive, and vengeful one. I can’t tell you that you have to stop believing but I can say that you are either misguided or a asshole, or a combination of the two.

You know the dark ages? That was all the Bible’s fault. Whatever the people believed was true was what was in the bible. Galileo and Copernicus were shunned with their idea of heliocentrism and a round earth. They were oppressed by the church because the bible didn’t agree with what they said. Science constantly proves the bible wrong; it seems that there are three ways around it to keep your faith: ignore it; attempt to discredit it; or say that science proves religion. Each of these requires some lying for Jesus and some willful ignorance.

I ask you, what do you really believe and why? Why not Zeus or Thor or the Flying Spaghetti monster? Why does your god get special treatment?

    Magikarp

  13. cin says:

Liam, if God is so caring and good, why would he send his “son” down to die a horrible death? What kind of parent would to this to their only begotten son? Also, if God is so benevolent, why are children/babies and other innocent people tortured, murdered and maimed every day through wars and criminals? Why did he allow Hitler to rise to power and kill millions of people? Didn’t he care? And please don’t say “he has his reasons” or “it was in his plan.” All it does is contradict the Christian notion that God is love and God is kind and loving. Man created God, God did not create Man.

  14. ugh says:

“History can prove that many of the books were written by kings….” -Who would be heavily influenced by their political agenda

“2. We believe God is omniscient, not a creep.” -ok that’s fine, stupid but fine.

“3. I’m assuming your referring to Mary and Joseph. We believe she was chosen because she was humble and of no great importance…” – I assume she was a whore and scapegoated the whole story to cover her affair and jesus was delusional and probably very mis-portrayed in the bible as there was a lot of cult like groups around during his time with similar stories such as resurrection, monotheism, apostles etc….

“4. We believe that Christ existed as a means of God getting in literal contact with the earth” -He simply talked to Moses, what was wrong with that?

“5. & 6. One, he never “seeked revenge”. Two, we believe that his death was a sacrifice symbolizing God’s forgiveness for all of the sin” -He was sacrificed like many others, he just happened to lead a cult.

“8. & 9. As outlined by the Bible, we believe that salvation is obtained solely through the genuine faith that Christ” -What about villages who was converted through missions, everyone lost salvation before the christians showed up because they had never heard he exisited? All the Asians before they went over there are all hellbound because they didn’t know Jesus? C’mon son, get the fuck outta here with that shit.

“10. No one can deny he has great talent ” – hmmmm

The last three posts are perfect examples of Christian ignorance. I really hope English is not your first language because my 12 year old sister has much better grammar than yours. If English IS your first language, then you’re a complete idiot, and probably not worth speaking with.

Don’t say anything negative about Christianity? Yes, actually I will speak negatively about it because I hate it. I hate Christianity and I hate willful ignorance. The two things tend to go hand in hand. I don’t hate individual Christians (well I try not to), but I do hate Christianity as a whole. Go watch the debate between Christopher Hitchens and Tony Blair if you want to see why. He explains it much better than I ever could. Religion is not a force for good in the world.

IMKI, yes, I do have information on THE ANTI CRIST?? He’s fictional. Do you know what fictional means? It’s fancy schmancy way of saying “not real.” Just one of the many lies and absurdities propagated by religion.

  20. B.T says:

Christianity is a huge fallacy, well not even just Christianity, religion period is not real. Religion is a mechanism to control the masses and not to mention start wars in the name of their “God”. Really, its all unreal. What I do not seem to understand the most, is how African American or anyone of African descent can even believe in something so asinine. Pre Colonialism Africans had no clue what Chrisitianity was until, Christian Missionaries came and used Chrisitianity as a tool to bring Africans to the New World as their slaves known as Colonialism. As a recent college graduate of English Pre Law, reading many African novels such as “All Things Fall Apart”, Native American narratives, research, and writing tons of literary analysis’ on Shakespeare etc, it is perfectly clear that Chrisitianity is for control and has corrupted the minds of many people. I am person who thinks logical, and there is NO WAY a woman can become impregnanted without sperm. If a woman today told the world she pregnant without relations with a man, no one would believe her without hardcore evidence. So, I can’t put my trust in another woman just becuase it happened a long time ago I should believe it? No, if that’s the case why hasn’t God sent another “holy child”, with all the corruption and crazyiness going on? I’m not one to judge however, it annoys me that Christians ridicule everyone for not accepting their beliefs. For example, people are so worried that Obama is not a Christian. In my opinion, I highly doubt he is, but even so who cares if he isn’t has long as someone can get a job done no one should discredit anyone because of their own personal beliefs. George Bush proclaims to be the biggest Christian, and could possibly the most evil. To end this, though I do not believe in the fables written in Christianity, I believe in myself. If I want it I can achieve it, which as been working fantastically for me. However, continue to believe in whatever makes you happy, just do your research first, and it’s good to read two sides to every argument before making radical conclusions; as most religious people do. Though, the Bible as well as other religious doctrines actually have good readings to teach you good morals that is fine. I don’t discriminate on my readings, if it something of interest to me,than I read it. I enjoy many of the quotes that religious leaders have said they all essentially contribute to being a good person however people should read them as that. When getting technical with it and worshipping that’s when its in my opinion unreal. It is like folktale in many cases.

Why do you feel that belittling us will will get your point across? Have you ever known or tried to get to know a Christian or Christian community? Most of us try to live humble lives and serve the poor and opposed of this world. You let a few fanatics that mix their religious beliefs with politics and distort the message of Love that Christ brought to us, and you judge us all as idiots.

You want people to believe Atheists can live moral lives, and you go and bash and stereotype anyone that doesn’t believe exactly as you do as idiots? I know some Christians do do this, but this is not what Christ taught. I’m sorry, but you leave me with a very poor impression of Atheists if this is how you are going to act.

By the way, look into how many people died under communist oppression in the last 70 years and then tell me that religion is the main cause of war and violence.

One more thing, I believe in God, not because I was raised to believe so, but rather because 3 years ago while in a state of severe unrelenting depression and panic disorder I hanged myself. I was clinically dead when they finally cut me down, and while my body was dying, I experienced God. This was the most profound experience of my life and has forever change me and caused me to live my life for Love, an experience I could not deny if I wanted to. And my depression and panic disorder and suicidal rage were removed from my soul that day, and the urge to Love my fellow human and strive to help to poor and oppressed was imparted unto my soul in its place.

Think I’m crazy or lying? Go ahead and think that. I experienced what I experienced. Those that will listen and believe me can, and those that won’t, won’t.

    Peace.

Religious beliefs shouldn’t be touched? Why is this?

Institutional stupidity that has persisted modern civilisation and for a long stretch has controlled our world shouldn’t be given a voice.

Just because it has been there for a long time and many people would be offended does not mean it isn’t stupid.

Religions are all borne out of a malicious and subversive attempts to control the world. Just because those callous people have now moved onto a better organisation (corporations) to benefit themselves and take advantage of the populous doesn’t mean that we should leave religion as is.

  32. jonathan karl says:

@ wondering why people are so argumentative.

the bible doesn’t say anything at all about the shape of the earth… nothing at all… and most of the resistance to the findings of it being round, came from the religious leaders who controlled everything at that time… it was thanks to science that we now know its round… and i think your referring to the practice of bloodletting, which was an ancient practice that had been around before science when religion/spiritual belief was the dominant form of reasoning… once again.. wasn’t till science discovered that this was illogical and took into account that the patient often died from the practice that they stopped… c’mon man… get your shit straight.

  33. Umm.. says:

Out of curiosity, have you… read the bible? Maybe? Possibly? Where exactly does it mention that the earth is round?

Do you have any idea how many scientists have been burnt at the stake by the Church for claiming the earth was round?

I also think you’re kind of in the wrong place. When the title of the blog is Your Religion is False, it PROBABLY means the subject matter has to do with the absurdities of Christianity and other religions. So.. why exactly are you here?

  34. Umm.. says:

Sorry. I forgot to mention that was directed at the first post.

I’d like to mention, however, that I’m only against those Christians who are unable to accept people who aren’t. I know people who constantly badger me about my atheism, and I’m sure everyone’s seen at least one or two people on YouTube condemning some music video or other for merely proclaiming love in an intense manner to another person–such emotions, apparently, should only be readily available for Jesus and/or the Lord Himself.

At the same time, I do have many Christian friends who are only privately Christian, and never preach their religion, but rather find hope, community, and moral guidance/wisdoms through faith and the Church.

It just irks me when religion is taken so intensely that it begins to dictate ordinary life. I’m not Christian, but only because I see no evidence to support it. I am open to the concept, as I am open to other religions. For now, though, I remain atheist until my belief is proved otherwise.

    Sorry for the rant d:

  36. Chae says:

As you will see from the many things I will say below, I am a Christian, and I’d like to explain a few things about Christianity from my point. I don’t expect anyone to agree with me, I know there are Christians who might believe I am wrong, and non-Christians who may call me stupid, but this just my opinion as a lifelong Christian. (I’m a high-school kid, so I suppose you could just call me plain ignorant; nevertheless, please take the time to consider my thoughts)

    1. The issue with God’s plan vs God’s love
I hear this argument a lot. ‘If God loves people so much, what’s with 9/11? What’s with hitler? What’s with all the suffering on earth?’ <= From non-Christians, and:
'If God loves me so much, why is he letting this happen to me? Why did he let good things happen to that person? How come this good person is suffering?' <= from Christians.
It's an issue I used to struggle with too, and then I began looking at it from a new perspective. I might be a little controversial in saying this, but I believe that God loves humanity as a whole, and his plan involves increasing the general percentage of people getting into heaven while heightening his own reputation. My God is a self-centred God. And if he really did create me, then I'm an idiot if I don't worship him. I'm another ant moving in the machinery of his plan. He could use another ant. It doesn't have to be me, but as long as I am here, I will do my part, and I will trust that everything that happens is just another occurrence powering the machinery of his plan. Things that seem great and massive to me are just another everyday thing for him. If my God is God, he has seen the death of billions of ants, billions of his own creations. This is not an issue of whether he loves me or not – if I'll have heaven, why do I want earth? Rather, this is an issue of whether I love him or not. If I don't love him, I can just drop out. I can go to hell afterwards. My choice really. Just another ant.
I'll chose to believe in him because I have never presumed to be anything more than a weak ant in the grand scheme of life.

    2. Christians forcing things on other people.
If you saw someone about to commit suicide, would you scream at them to stop? If you have a shred of humanity in you, I think you would.
Why would you do that? Is it not their own choice to off their life? What gives you a right to say they are wrong?
You don't have a right. But you have compassion and love. These are traits I admire.
This is the same for many of the more rabid Christians. (I am not speaking of the hypocrites, or the trolls. I am speaking of the missionaries, the desperate-eyed. You will see who I am speaking of as I move on.) Stand in their shoes for a second. You truly believe that by not placing your faith in a guy who died 2000 years ago, you will spend all of eternity being tortured – constantly in pain. You realise that you can't plead with your 'jealous' God. You turn and see that all your friends, your neighbours, the people walking on your street – are not believers. To you, their life looks like one long road towards certain doom. They might die tomorrow, you don't know – but you know that if they do, they're going straight into the fiery pits of hell.
If you truly believed this, and had a shred of humanity in you, you'd be shoving Christianity in everyone's faces too.
    Is that hard to understand?
This is christian compassion. It's not that we hate you and want to make your life hell. Some of us are firmly convinced you are going to hell, and do not wish that to happen.
And no, the fact that our God is like this isn't a reason not to believe in him.
As for the silly ones who spam with bad grammar (sorry, I'm a stickler) about strange things not within the Christian doctrine, I can't stand them either. (For example, I saw on a forum once, a poster who declared fervently that they were Christian, then went on to blast about how God hated Gay people and on how he was arranging a rally at his university, where a group of these 'christians' would throw paper balls at known homosexuals as some sort of ritual stoning. This post made me depressed for approximately a week. God does not hate gay people. I am saying this in the same way as I would say – God does not hate thieves. God loves all humanity. God loved Hitler. He has extreme tolerance for humans as people.) As far as I am concerned, they are trying to shove you faster down the road to hell. And that is unforgivable to me as a Christian.

I beg you, as a christian, to pardon the intolerant, narrow-minded comments self-proclaimed Christians have made in your presence or directly at you in the past. If I could, I'd apologize for the Crusades, instigated by a foolish pope out for material gain, and for black slavery, and for every single crime in history that God never gave these Christians permission to commit. I sincerely believe that if one treats another human like that, they have not studied God's word as they should, and if they are not devoutly following God's orders, they did not die as true Christians.

As for me, as I said, I am still a high-school student, and I have no experience of the world. If you will, please send me an email at:
chae_sabel@accamail.com if you wish to respond to any of my points or posit any of your own.

I think that the only way I can grow as a person is by doubting what I believe.

Thankyou for reading, if you have.

  37. Shk says:

God does not need any begotten son to forgive humanity. He does not need to stage anything. Nor, God needs to come on Earth in human form and sacrifice Himself to show His love for humanity. These are all stupid things. When someone believes that God is doing all these things, He is actually believing in stupid God.

We believe in all-Wise God, who does not do any stupid things. We believe, God is one, no one is like God, He is a creator and everything is created by Him, He is not begotten of anyone nor He begets anyone. And God is not in need of anything, while everything is in need of Him.

  38. Joel says:

I just don’t understand why people bash Christianity when they obviously know little about it. I can understand disliking the stereotypical Christian, though. I go to a Bible University, and I cannot stand people who say this is what they believe and that it’s absolute truth, but they cannot tell you why something is a sin or is wrong. Sure, some of the Bible is weird, but is it really less believable than what scientists and evolutionists teach? I mean, come on.. Humans are beyond complex! I don’t understand how things came about in a way that can be even theorized scientifically if “matter cannot be created nor destroyed” If that is true then we are not here.
For the people that are set on hating us. I’m sorry. I’m sorry we have not lived the way we should. I’m sorry we have given you a false impression of what a Christian is supposed to be. I’m sorry some of us can still not love others as we are called to do. Mistakes will always be made. Just because we have the name “Christian” does not mean we are Jesus or that we are perfect. We are human.
For the people who don’t believe because they do not see evidence, I understand. God is a more complex being then we can ever imagine. I will tell you that the only evidence that convinced me of His existence is the peace that I have. I’ve been through it all, and you’ll NEVER find a peace so great or a feeling of love so abundant.
For those of you who partially believe… Please, I beg you to READ the Bible. Because if you only believe some things than you probably have not read the entire Bible. The Word of God is not something that can say whatever you think it says. If you believe the word is divinely inspired, than go after it with all your heart. Don’t pick and choose. I get so confused when I hear “Christians” say that they don’t believe Christ is the only way to Heaven or other people say they don’t believe Christ is God, but that He was a great person. ……….WHAT? If you believe in Christ’s teachings He says No one comes to the Father but by Him. Is that Biblical enough?
And Christ wasn’t God, He was just a good person? It just makes me laugh that these people think Jesus would still be a good person if he wasn’t God. I mean sure, His life was amazing, and He helped soooo many! But if He was not God, this guy claimed to be so countless times! As C.S. Lewis put it “Lord or Lunatic” haha, there’s no middle ground.
I hope that someday there will be a good Christian person that each of you runs across, so you can see who we truly are. All we are really trying to do is share with people what we’ve found to be unimaginable to live without.
“Be good to those that hate you”

^ Three christards that are still fucked up in the head.
Reading the bible, studying comparative religion, history and science made me realize that Christians are nothing but delusional morons.

  40. JimmyJuice says:

I find it slightly sad that in a time of logic and reason people still think that we are controlled by a supernatural being. I hate all religion but hold a special hate for Christianity. There are many reasons for this hatred and are as follows… Christianity is the cause of 2000 years of genocide and ignorance including the Crucades and the Spanish Inquisition (look it up). It is also a supporting reason for the fall of Rome because the introduction of 1 god weakened their once powerful army allowing invading Germanic tribes to destroy the Empire. Christianity also sevearly crippled the progression of science and free thinking. Try to take a moment and think of all the illnesses that couldve been prevented if people were allowed to think. Lastly, I hate Christianity because the thought of alwayse needing to live in fear is very primitive. I will close this message with the fact that religion can be traced to the cause of a large amount of wars or disasters. Think about it…

^ Sadly critical thinking is not required to be a christian, just blind faith without questioning.

  42. Darrell says:

    > I just don’t understand why there has to be such an argument over it. There are people who prefer cats to dogs. Does that make them wrong and worthy of ridicule?

Yes, as a matter of fact. People who prefer dogs over cats are idiots, and probably Christians.

  43. jerry says:

How could you be so right on about #10 and so ignorant on 1-9? Better hope like hell you’re wrong on #8. Better yet, go back to the time you were hurt by religion/church people and work through your anger.

  44. Anon says:

    ^ Up yours christard!

  45. ME says:

GUYS… Boys and Girls… Where has all of these arguments led us? Are we any better than those calling each other idiots or lording their believes on others?

I am a 100% Christian and some of your comments for those against, really made me laugh rather than intimidate me, because I know a huge percent of your points are based on mere ignorance. If you have never been burnt, you won’t know how a fire burn feels. That’s all I have to say to you.

    For my Christian brothers and sisters on here;

    1. Giving these people the attention they need makes them go way out to deep a finger down you throat, we should know better. We know what has become of their types lol… There is no need fighting for Christ what he’s got in control.

    2. Some of us truly can be annoying, we should walk as though as people who are cautious of the fact that others are watching us not because they want to be like us but because they want to mock what we believe.

    3. Neither we nor these people have been to either heaven or hell, maybe in revelations and dreams, but we should mind how we picture what others do believe. I personally won’t blame a guy who gets good grades in school, mother and father happily married but are not Christians or Muslims when he chooses not to believe anything. He or she have grown up to believe what they believe today. So quit trying to make them see reasons with you.

Leave them & refer them to Psalm 14:1, as much as we keep quiet from these, there won’t be need for much arguments and calling others idiot and all sort of names. Imagine a HUMAN being calling others such names! A sign that they’ve got no heart and won’t hid your words, safe your strength for people who need the word! Proverbs 14:7.

And for those who would say something about my post, for you Christ died okay, so, it will be disappointing if you do not have something to say to me. Heaven or hell, you someday will know, I hope it wont be too late.

Here for anyone who truly cares.

    Don’t argue with a fool …

If you are to start arguing with a fool, you will look a fool arguing with the fool!

Anyone nearby will point saying look – Two fools! How uncool would that be for you to look a fool too!

If you argue with a fool then people might not know,or really care who the real fool actually is! If a fool isn’t going to listen then don’t waste your time.

    Allow fool to think whatever.
Walk away; all will be just fine.
Save all your breath for someone else who’ll listen to you on another day!

Funny enough Christ loves the fools… :D

  46. im definately going to write a response to this in my blog i hope every one checks it out

  47. i thought it was going to post my blog its. see it at stupidchristians1.blogspot.com its about… well stupid christians.

  48. Oh Dear says:

Oh dear Joel, I would really hate to be in your shoes after this life. Not only do you believe these things you wrote but you’re preaching them to others via the internet…?!!! I’ll never judge you Joel, I still love you, but you need to walk away from all this for a while and think hard.

I’m saved and I love Jesus, not even torture or death would stop my love for Him :)

    I’ll pray for you.
